Marcus Samnell
Nightjars in the Garden of Delights

13 — 25 Maj 2022

Nejd presents "Nightjars in the Garden of Delights", an installation and assemblage of found objects, sculpture, printed and painted images, sound and text. The music is specially composed for the exhibition. In the ruins of the Garden of Eden, conspiracy theories and acute medical conditions fester along with the death drive and posthuman phantasies of civilisation, like wounds or rashes from poison oak and stinging nettles.
Markus Samnell is based in Gothenburg and did his BA at Bergen Art Academy. He works in numerous artistic fields and makes music under the moniker Feberdröm. His work is often based on ciomplex and not necessarily transparent systems of reference and personal mythologies, in which world events and politics, private experience and cultural/pop cultural tropes are boiled down into absurd and surreal presentations
